We cultivate and inspire meaningful, lasting investments that enrich the healthcare experience in South Mississippi.
The Forrest General Healthcare Foundation is the philanthropic division of Forrest General Hospital. The foundation helps ensure that the hospital’s vision of C.A.R.E. becomes a reality for the 19 county region that this hospital serves.
Thanks to your help, we have raised over $15 million dollars since 2009.
100% of every donation goes directly towards projects that improve the healthcare experience in South Mississippi
About our impact
Thanks to your continued support of the Forrest General Healthcare Foundation, we’ve been able to enrich healthcare services in the Pine Belt in several areas including:
-
The Asbury Hospice House on 40th Avenue offers an in-patient, quiet and comforting, home-like setting where staff can address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient and their family.
-
The Becky and Bill Oliver Healing Garden at Forrest General’s Cancer Center offers patients, loved ones, and visitors a quiet and serene outdoor space away from treatment areas.
-
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit serves, on average, 300 newborns and their families each year. The Foundation provided a rooftop terrace to allow families to step away without leaving the unit. Video monitoring equipment allows family members to see their newest family member in real time, even when they cannot physically be at the hospital.
-
The Spiritual Grounds at Pine Grove (Phase 1) includes the Meditative Labyrinth and Fire Circle. Both elements are used daily for our patients to focus on healing, discarding past transgressions, and move forward with healthy resolutions.
Finding Hope... One Step at a Time (Phase 2) introduces two new elements to the Spiritual Grounds at Pine Grove. A beautiful Chapel and symbolic Bell Tower will complement the existing Meditative Labyrinth, Fire Circle, and Paul McMullan Plaza. Plans to break ground early 2024.
-
Provided by our Let’s Connect Campaign, charging stations were placed throughout Forrest Health locations to help patients and their families stay connected during their time at our facilities. Also, a walking track was installed on the main Forrest General Hospital property for staff, patients, and their families to get for some fresh air without leaving campus.
-
Provides assistance to employees who have faced unforeseen catastrophic events in their lives (i.e. house fires, tornadoes, etc.)
Our current campaign
Making each moment matter
In November 2016, because of generous donors, Asbury Hospice House opened its doors and admitted its first patient. Since then, more than 4,600 others have taken the same journey with the care and compassion of the Asbury staff. Additional needs to enhance the compassionate care provided at Asbury have been identified.
The kind of care you find at Asbury Hospice House includes many things that Medicare fees and other insurer reimbursements do not fund. These services can make all the difference to a patient and their family.
