Stained Glass Installation at the Becky and Bill Oliver Healing Garden

OUR IMPACT

Asbury Hospice House

The Asbury Hospice House, located on 40th Avenue, offers a home-like setting where staff can address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient and their family. From the moment you enter through the welcoming doors, families will find spacious patient rooms, dining and kitchen facilities, a comfortable family room, meditation room, and garden all coupled with the best available care.

The Asbury Hospice House is designed to provide for every aspect of care a family may need when facing the terminal illness of their loved one. At life’s end, the idea of care circles around a different philosophy. While we all seek the familiarity of home and family, in many circumstances, a patient’s needs dictate the shape and nature of care. Asbury Hospice House gives patients and families the opportunity to be together while maintaining the highest level of care and comfort.

The Becky & Bill Oliver Healing Garden

The Bill and Becky Oliver Healing Garden at Forrest General’s Cancer Center will offer patients, loved ones and visitors a quiet, outdoor space away from treatment areas. The Garden will be open to all, every day from dawn to dusk. Its purpose is to help reduce the stresses of illness and hospitalization. The Healing Garden encourages calm, comfort, and relaxation. Here, you can spend times alone to think, rest, and regain emotional and physical energy.

Spiritual Grounds at Pine Grove

The Spiritual Grounds at Pine Grove (Phase 1) includes the Meditative Labyrinth and Fire Circle. Both elements are used daily for our patients to focus on healing, discarding past transgressions, and move forward with healthy resolutions.

Finding Hope... One Step at a Time (Phase 2) introduces two new elements to the Spiritual Grounds at Pine Grove. A beautiful Chapel and symbolic Bell Tower will complement the existing Meditative Labyrinth, Fire Circle, and Paul McMullan Plaza. Plans to break ground early 2024.

NICU Renovations

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit serves, on average, 300 newborns and their families each year. The Foundation provided a rooftop terrace to allow families to step away without leaving the unit. Video monitoring equipment allows family members to see their newest family member in real time, even when they cannot physically be at the hospital.

The terrace is an outdoor space, accessible only to NICU families, for a breath of fresh air, a place to take phone calls, or relax while only a short walk away from their newborn baby.

Additionally each of our 23 NICU bed is equipped with a webcam so parents can stay connected with their newborns. The secure service is free to NICU families and can be accessed through a username and password provided on written consent. It also provides a way for loved ones that are too small or too far away to see your newest little addition.

Patient Experience Initiatives

Charging stations, provided by our Let’s Connect Campaign, were placed throughout Forrest Health locations to help patients and their families stay connected during their time at our facilities.

We also installed a walking track on the main Forrest General Hospital property for staff, patients, and their families to get for some fresh air without leaving campus.

In addition the FGH Foundation renovated the Woullard Chapel, including a stained glass piece of art, is a place of refuge and meditation for patients, visitors, and employees. The Woullard Chapel is located at Forrest General on the first floor, directly across from the main elevators.

In addition to the above campaigns, the FGH Foundation also provides assistance to employees who have faced unforeseen catastrophic events in their lives (i.e. house fires, tornadoes, etc.)
